Stuart, Alexander and Robert; Conway Farms
Robert D. Stuart, Jr., is the former CEO of Quaker Oats and a former U.S. Ambassador to Norway. He is now President of North Star Investments and a nationally active fundraiser for Republican causes. He is a member of the CHANGE Illinois Commission, as well. Alexander Stuart, his son, also works at North Star Investments and is the President of Conway Farms, a golf course and residential community. He is also the President of the Lake County Republican Federation.
The Stuarts and Conway Farms are career patrons of former Lieutenant Governor Corinne Wood (R), and contributed $54,750 to her campaign committee through June 30, 2002. Of that amount, Conway Farms contributed $10,287, Robert Stuart contributed $21,500, and Alexander Stuart contributed $23,000.
From 1995 to 2001, the Stuarts and Conway Farms gave a combined $128,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 100% of which was contributed to Republicans.
