Tomaras, Chris

Chris P. Tomaras was born in Piraeus, Greece and in 1958, after attending the Athens Graduate School of Economics and Business Sciences, moved to the U.S. Mr. Tomaras founded the Greek food products manufacturer, Kronos Foods, which was sold in 1994 to a venture capital firm. Mr. Tomaras then founded Tomaras Investments, Ltd, a private investment firm with holdings in real estate and several operating companies in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Tomaras is a philanthropist with significant contributions to several Greek institutions that support Greek education and offer assistance and services to Greek communities. In 1998, he founded what is today the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation, which awarded $100,000 in grants in 2005.

Chris Tomaras is a career patron of former Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias (D).

From 1993 through December 31, 2006, Chris Tomaras gave $55,800 to Illinois statewide offices. 97% of these funds were contributed to Democrats.
