IL Laborers Legislative Cmte
The Illinois Laborers Legislative Committee is a PAC representing Illinois interests of the Laborers International Union of North America. The Laborers have 50,000 members working in a variety of industries throughout the Midwest. The union, especially the Chicago-area Laborers District Council office, has been accused of tolerating mob influence. The Chicago local was ordered by a federal court to be monitored by a third party. Several former union leaders have been convicted of various financial schemes.
The Illinois Laborers Legislative Committee is a career patron of Secretary of State Jesse White (D), and former Comptroller Dan Hynes (D) who ran for governor in 2010.
From 1993 through December 31, 2002, the Illinois Laborers Legislative Committee gave $401,000 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 91% of which was contributed to Democrats.
Last revised June 2011.
