IL State Bar Association

The Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) is the state's largest association of lawyers. The group ranks include over three dozen sectors: industry, commercial, banks, corporate securities, insurance, public utilities and transportation, and torts, among others. The ISBA is headquartered in Springfield, Illinois. ISBA contributes politically through their political action committee LAWPAC.In 2006, Leslie Hairston was elected as chair of LAWPAC. Hairston has also served as the alderman of Chicago’s 5th Ward since 1999.

The Illinois State Bar Association is a career patron of Democratic Party Chair and Speaker of the House Michael Madigan (D). From 1993 through June 30, 2003, LAWPAC gave $969,225 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office, 77% of which was contributed to Democrats.
