Illinois Construction Industry Committee
The Illinois Construction Industry Committee (ICIC) is an education and advocacy organization representing construction companies in Illinois. ICIC member associations include: Associated General Contractors of the Quad Cities, Central Illinois Builders of AGC, Fox Valley General Contractors Association, Greater Peoria Contractors and Suppliers, Illinois Painting and Decorating Contractors, Illinois Valley Contractors Association, Inc., Lake County Contractors Development Association, National Electrical Contractors Associations, Inc., Northern Illinois Building Contractors, Inc., Southern Illinois Builders Association, Underground Contractors Association, Contractors Association of Will and Grundy Counties. Recently, the ICIC promoted the Public Construction Contract Act, which would have allowed contractors in projects over $75,000 to recover increased costs resulting from unforeseen latent or subsurface conditions. This bill was votoed by former Governor George Ryan. In 2011 the ICIC supported SB 1349 focusing on workers compensation reform. However, they opposed other bills passing through the Illinois General Assembly that would increase regulations related to the construction industry.
The Illinois Construction Industry Committee is a career patron of former Senate Republican Leader Frank Watson (R).
From 1993 through June 30, 2003, the Illinois Construction Industry Committee gave $563,145 to candidates for Illinois statewide constitutional and legislative office. 84% went to Republicans.
Last revised June 2011.
